Towards the beginning of my college career, my friend and I started noticing something. We just weren’t feeling the school merchandise. The designs didn’t really stand out, and they didn’t reflect the kind of style we’d actually want to wear. Every time we passed by the campus store, we’d end up talking about how we could make it better. We wanted to create something that still showed school pride but looked way better, and felt more personal.

One thing we knew for sure: we had to include the school mascot, which is a tiger. It’s a strong, bold symbol that represents the energy of our campus and the kind of vibe we wanted our designs to give off. The idea slowly turned into a passion project and eventually a brand.

We decided to name the brand "1974", and there’s a story behind that too. It’s the year my mom was born, and it also happens to be the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese Zodiac sign. That connection made it feel even more meaningful, like everything came full circle.

1974 is all about repping your school with confidence and creativity. It’s for people who want to show their pride without having to settle for boring designs. We’re here to bring a fresh take to campus merch, and this is just the beginning.
